I have a Dell Inspiron 580 running Windows 7 home premium will this product work on my machine?

Sorry.  I wasn't able to use this device on my computer.  This one fits a PCI slot.  My computer has PCI Express (PCIe) slots.  I didn't find out until I tried to install it.  They are not interchangeable and use entirely different cards.

I strongly recommend you find out if your motherboard has PCI or PCIe slots before you order the firewire card.  Hope this helps.

Web ad at newegg says this supports Win7 and Win8 but box says supports Win 98 through Vista. OK to use with Win7?

it supports win7 no problem, but be forewarned. I bought this card about close to 2 years ago and about 3-4 months ago it started getting spotty signals and speeds. I went from getting 11mbps to 3. Then sometimes 5 and 8, then 1, etc. I've read it happens to a lot of people.  It was a decent card for as long as it worked, but eventually just fizzled out.  Very easy install and no issues with win7 other than that.

is this card compatable with windows 7?

I have used this card with Windows 7 and 8.1 without any issues. I used it for capturing old DV tapes from a video camera. Some HD, some not. Might need to see the manufacturers website for the driver, don't recall, but it works fine.

Question 4

My present Firewire card (used in Win 7) is now recognized in the Device Manager in my new Windows 8 o.s., but Win 8 does not see the camcorder connected by Firewire. It used to work in Win 7.
Question:
Will this Rosewill Firewire card not only be recognized by Win 8 o.s. in Device Mgr, but will Win 8 see my Canon camcorder connected to this new Rosewill card?

I wouldn't think so, it's only an interface, there's no software. I'm still running xp so I can't really say. I can say for the price it might be worth taking a chance. good luck I know what a pain it is.

I've purchased several cards before and none were the same brand and none were bad. The Rosewill card works ok.

Hi I just received this..and it wont go into the slot. The one available is a PCI-E x16. I have a Acer America AX3960-U4102. Am I doing something wrong?

I need a firewire port for an audio interface. I have a bunch of free PCIe x16 slots.

Can I run this with Win 7, in a PCIe x16 slot?

Also, is the internal USB port required to power this card? (or is it just a means of adding an internal USB port?)

has an internal usb hub in case you buy a 4 port bay hub to install in the front of your computer. orico software doesn't seem to work for me and had to download driver from the web. with this card you need a molex cable to power the card. usb port doesn't power it
