Question 1

I have an Asus MS-238H monitor which has D-Sub & HDMI but no DVI-D connection. I would like to connect the computer's graphics card DVI-D to the monitor's HDMI with this adapter & an HDMI cable. Would this work? It would be used for the basic computer display. Thanks.

Since this adapter is "male" on the DVI end it is not physically attachable to the same connection that you have on your graphics card. However, I only assume that it's a one-way connector and that if you had a "female" port on the PC you could physically connect it, but it wouldn't produce an HDMI output. I'm using mine to connect the HDMI output on my card to the DVI input on my monitor.

Does this for for 2560x1600 resolution?

It depends on your motherboard/video card. I have a 2560x1440 monitor. With my computer that has an Asus P10s-m ws motherboard, this resolution works fine because the HDMI port supports this resolution. However, with my computers that have AS Rock and MSI boards, the resolution of the display is lower because the motherboard's HDMI ports do not support the 2560x1440 resolution. Notice that my vertical resolution is only 1440, not 1600. Nevertheless, I suspect that the adapter itself will also work with 1600 if your motherboard/video card's HDMI port support the 2560x1440 resolution.

How many adapters are in the pack -- 2? The description says "connectors: 2", but it's not clear from the photos.

Mine came with a single adapter. But the adapter, as you can see from the photos, has 2 sides to it. Connectors, in this context, I'm pretty sure just means the parts you plug in.

Question 5

I have no DVI-D connector on my monitor. Only D-Sub & HDMI. I would like to connect the DVI-D on my computer to the HDMI on the monitor. Can that work with this adapter? Already plan audio through soundcard to separate speakers. Thanks.

Yes, you will also need an HDMI cable; the HDMI end of this adapter is a female connection.

My EVGA GTX280 card claims to be able to output audio (with the 2-pin SP-DIF input on the video card connected to the mobo's 3-pin S/PDIF header), but since I bought this board refurbished it didn't come with the audio cable or the DVI/HDMI adapter. I found the audio cable elsewhere (just because I couldn't find it on NewEgg), but now I need to know one thing:

The audio cable connects the card's 2-pin audio in to the mobo's 3-pin S/PDIF output. I would assume, then, that the GTX280 somehow pumps the audio out through the DVI connection, since there is no external audio connector. Will this DVI-to-HDMI adapter put the audio through to the TV through the HDMI connector to the TV?

I think if i understand your situation you are trying to get audio through an hdmi to dvi connection, if so your problem is that dvi carries no audio data what so ever. You may need a separate audio connection going from the card to the TV. But you can rest assured that no audio will ever go through that dvi connector.
