Rosewill RCX-Z5 92mm Two Ball Bearing / FDBB CPU Cooler

Pros: -Fast and easy installation -Fan and Thermal paste included -Great cooling -Relatively light -Very quiet even at full speed -Excellent value for money I just installed it a couple of hours ago and achieved an instant 10-14C drop on idle, and a whopping 30C drop on 100% load. I got this cooler when NewEgg had the shellshocker deal going on. Saw several positive reviews and a few negative ones, but thought I'd go for it because of the low price. Am I glad I did! It is also relatively light, I remember the Zalman on my old PC that weighed about 4 pounds and was worried if this would cause my motherboard to bend. But the Z5 felt much lighter and feels more secure on the board than my intel stock cooler. It's very quiet - I could hear my intel cooler kick up and it sounded like it's going to take off, and this was on an Antec case with 6 other fans running. Now I can barely hear the CPU fan at 100% over my case fans. Overall, I'm very happy with this cooler.

Cons: * Needs precision screwdriver to mount CPU-adapter. I didn't have my tiny watch-screwdriver set handy, so wasn't pleased about the real tiny screws that they provided to secure the CPU adapter to the cooler. Had to improvise using a kitchen tool but this is not enough to take away an egg. It would be nice if they provided standard sized computer screws (similar to HDD ones) so a regular screwdriver can do the job. * The latches that need to be rotated to remove the cooler is BELOW the fins, so a screwdriver cannot reach it easily and access the slot on the locking latch from straight above. It's not that hard to turn them using bare hands though, so this is not a big deal.

Overall Review: I have a Q6600 running at stock speeds and my intel stock cooler was terrible. I used to get 42-45C on idle and once the temperature of the hottest core went up to 72C while I was doing some video encoding. That's when I decided to get a new cooler. I was leaning towards Tuniq, ThermalTake, Coolermaster etc which are relatively expensive and have been putting it off because of the higher prices and due to the fact that I'd have to get a separate fan for some of those (another 15 bucks or so). When I saw the Rosewill for less than half the price of the other ones, and because it included the thermal paste AND a fan, I couldn't pass it up. Now I get 28-31C on idle and 42C on my hottest core and 39C on the coolest one at 100% load. The reason for the low differential between high/low temps is that I kept my fan at 25% on idle and when the temps go up, it kicks up to 100% (mobo bios). I'm going to bump up the idle RPM and see how much more it can cool when the CPU is idle.

Pros: This thing is awesome and inexpensive. I installed it in my ASUS P5E flawlessly, the thermal goop is good and the cooler keeps my CPU AT 25C IDLE and 45C UNDER LOAD. THE FAN SPEED VARIES AS MY MOTHERBOARD HAS A SPEED VS. TEMPERATURE control (Q-FAN UTILITY IN BIOS) so when the CPU is idle the fan speed decreases to 500-800 RPM's and when under load it reaches almost 2000RPM's. The retention clips are nice, you don't have to take the board out to install the cooler although it would be more comfortable doing it that way. The instructions do the job, read them. Nice packaging. Comes with two brackets that you have to bolt on (the bolts went in fine) on for the 775 socket the other one I'm guessing is for the AM2 and AM2+ sockets.

Cons: None. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW ASUS/INTELQ6600 BUILD SEE MY SYSTEM. EVERYTHING WORKED FINE TOGETHER, HOW I NEVER IMAGINED IT WOULD.

Pros: Copper heat pipes are a great conductor, and this one has 4 of them. Keeps my Athlon 64 X2 4200+ at a amazing -2C idle 15C load!!!!!

Pros: This is an excellent product. Not only does it do a fantastic job of cooling today's hot CPU, it looks pretty good doing it for those that care, with mirror finish and blue LED. Nickel-plated copper heat pipes are extremely thermal efficient and rust resistant, and while the heatsink assembly is large, it should clear any nearby RAM and still fit in the case. The quiet ball-bearing fan is mounted using rubber grommets minimizing vibration noise, and seems easily user replaceable. Decent thermal paste is also included.

Cons: I found none. Other reviewers complained of having difficulty threading screws, but I had no such problems. Fit and finish on the hardware I received was exceptional.

Overall Review: I bought this as part of a combo deal with a processor and, after anxiously reading a few negative reviews, was relieved when my part arrived in perfect condition. I was impressed with every aspect of this product, from packaging to performance. Installation was also a breeze thanks to the straightforward instructions, and it comes with mounting hardware for either Intel or AMD CPUs. Recommended.

Pros: OK. I am very impressed. Dropped my X2 6400 from 38c Idle to 27c. And 50c Under Load to 39c max. And the AS 5 hasnt had time to seal. I have 2 other systems with Z****N HSF and this is very comparable. Very impressed.

Cons: Well not much of a con but my CPU bracket is turned making the fan point up (or Down) and the clip will only go one way. Like I said, not enough of a con to lower rating. I have an Antec 900 so the PSU is on bottom of case.

Overall Review: Great investment for the price. Much better than I expected. And I havent even given it time to seat the Arctic Silver.

Pros: THE SCREWS WENT IN FINE!!! NO DEFECTS ON MY COOLER. NICE BOX! GOOD THERMAL GOOP! GOOD INSTRUCTIONS! The cooler is lightweight and the fan is Quiet. heatsink is all nickel plated. leaves room for a 120mmx38mm fan in the rear of the case (xion stacker) and for a 120mmx25mm on the top side panel. Fits my ASUS P5E with no problems whatsoever, and should also fit the ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA as they are practically the same. I placed the cooler so that the fan is facing the back and blows towards the front.

Cons: NO CONS. INSTALLATION TIPS: The clips that hold the heatsink to the motherboard are best installed with the motherboard outside of the case. It becomes difficult installing it in the case because you will need to squeeze your hands in the case and turn those clips to lock them. Install you Hard Drives before putting the motherboard in.

Pros: Relatively easy install. Seems to do the job quite well sitting on my Phenom II 940. Running stock (3 GHz-Cool N Quiet off) I'm looking at 31c right now sitting idle. Temps topped out at 36c after a few hours of gaming. During another session the next night, stopped at 35c. I'm guessing thermal paste setting.

Cons: Slightly more difficult to install than a stock HSF. But by no means hard to do. This is my second build and first time installing a custom cooler. Ever. Had it installed within 5 minutes. You NEED an eyeglass screwdriver.

Overall Review: On my first attempt to install, I couldn't get my fat hand in to latch the second clip. I had to removed the cooler and latched it first. In doing so, I may have messed up the spread of the paste. Someday (maybe when I decide to OC) I may re-seat it. See if I don't get even better temps. When installing, figure out which side will be the hardest to clip and do it first. Then in one smooth motion, push and latch the second clip. You are going to have to apply some pressure, but I was never afraid for my board. I also have the fan blowing up. This is fine for me. Heat wants to rise anyway, right? And it just happens to be blowing into both my PSU and case exhaust fans. And while it looks like a 5 pound monster, it's weight is nothing a MB can't handle.
