Can you turn off the "night light" while it is in use?

No, you can't. I have to put a paper between the light and the tank. I also try using a cloth (shirt) to cover it.

How do I get the mist to come out of the top?  Cleaned it with white vinegar but it still does not work!

If the mist does not come out, there is good chance that the fan does not work or something get to the air in or out. My son loves putting the wood block to the air out and it blocks every mist. I normally use paper towel, damp with water and wipe. For the tank, just put a paper towel or two in with a little water, shake it up. It will clean the tank that way.
