How is this headset's durability? And how does it sound? Can you compare it to any famous headphones, or just tell me whether it sounds better than any pair of beats? if it doesn't sound better then any pair of beats im not buying this.

I don't know how Good/Bad a pair of beats sounds But....
  I Do like these Rosewill RHM-556 Very much. The hideaway mic works very well for Speech to Text apps. And my Games, Movies, And Music sound clear and load. Rosewill has a great return policy for their stuff (though I've never needed to use it). 
  I say try it and I hope you Like them as much as I do. I also got a pair for my son and I see he is still using them about a year later at this point.
  Or you could get a pair and if they turn out to be something you
don't like just gift to one of your friends who WOULD like. I hope this helps some what. And I hope you like'um.

Does the microphone let in background noise? I was thinking of using these as headsets for a LAN party for people who don't have their own.

Yes, you will get background noise, but there is some filtering. Quality is not great, but for the price, and as backups, these are very suitable.

How do these work? I plugged them in and there's no sound.

Greetings.

The Roswill RHM-566 headset has two color coded 3.5mm Jacks.  Black being that of the incoming sound/headphones, and the Red being that of the outgoing Microphone.  In order to properly have the headset working, please first make sure that you have plugged in the Jacks to the appropriate slots on your computer.  Next, make sure the volume slide on the cord microphone is all the way up (this can be adjusted at a later time for correct volume).  Your computer should automatically recognize the headset when you have plugged it in correctly, but if your computer does not, please do the following:  On your computer, go to start then to control panel (if you are running windows 8 this may be a little difficult to find) and locate hardware and sound, click on hardware and sound and find sound icon located in the menu. Once there, you should be able to adjust the system sound to your needs, however if you are still unable to hear or use the microphone appropriately, you can on that same menu, troubleshoot your system.  First  Locate 'change system sounds' once there you should see the following tabs; Playback, recording,  sounds, communications.  Make sure that under the Playback tab, that the appropriate output device has a green circled check mark on it.  Then once you have verified this, go to the Recording tab, and make sure that the Microphone has the same green circled check mark.  This is the advanced way of checking your computer settings however, if you have Realtek audio components, or another manufacturer sound card, a sound manager should be listed in the current running programs icon tab just to the left of your time on the task-bar.  You should be able to adjust audio settings there as well, by double clicking on the appropriate icon.  If you are unable to troubleshoot your audio settings further, or unable to have the headset work, I would suggest contacting the computer manufacturer, the sound card driver manufacturer, or Rosewill directly.

does this product have microphone?

Yes it does, it's telescopic/retractable which is probably why you can't see it in the photos but it's there. And if you're at all concerned about quality it's the best mic I've owned. And the cheapest. Doesn't pop if you're a screamer.
