What is the micro USB port for?

It's a mini-USB, not micro-USB. It's supplemental/optional for power in case the switch fails to run off either computer's own USB power. USB-A to micro-USB cable is NOT included in package.

What about audio/speakers? Thanks much.

I don't think the switch will support wired stand alone speakers. I have two computers. One online, the other is not. I use the switch to flip back and forth. The audio is plugged into the back of the online system. Hope this helps a little. The switch works fine...
