Will it work with a win 98 machine (ps2 keyboard and mouse)?

I have had this switch for about one year and it works well.  You have to keep in mind that the switch is not powered unless you have at least one connected system powered on.  When you power on the first system, the switch starts up on port 1, so if the only powered on system is not on port 1, you have to switch to the port it is connected to.  Since PS2 devices need to be connected prior to power on of the system in order to be recognized, I would suggest connecting it to port 1.  You could connect it to a different port as long as at least one other connected system is powered on and the PS2 system is selected on the switch before you power it on.  All of this assumes you are using PS2 to USB adapters, since there are no PS2 ports on this switch.

Question 2

How is the remote switching accomplished, with a specific keyboard key?
If so, which one?

The remote switching is done with a button switch that is part of the unit.

You can go to rosewill's website and download the user's guide/manual if you need more information.

You basically press the button and it goes to the next device.

Question 3

Is this emulated so there will not be a delay?

The switching takes place using the button which I park next to the keyboard. It seems to take less than 1 sec. to switch to the next computer. I am not sure what emulated means in this application, but it is very fast and reliable. The only delay, is when you switch to the number 4 computer from the number 1 computer. You have to step through in a forward-only direction, so it takes 3 switches to get to number 4 computer.

Question 4

If I am playing music from 1 computer and games on the other computer can I hear sound from both machines at the same time?

Not through the switch as it will only pick one source at a time (The active computer). However, you could route one of the computers to it's own speakers and not use the switch for sound on that machine.
