I believe the mouse wheel is more or less a standard mechanism manufactured and placed into many mouse products. The amount of force required for my middle finger to move the wheel is reasonable. Your mileage may vary.

To compare a mouse wheel click to a speedbump is really bad analogy. Way too abstract. So let me attempt to make the comparison more direct. It's like rolling the wheel of a five-dollar mouse, very sensitive, very delicate-feeling, easily broken. If you were to purchase this mouse for yourself, I'd recommend handling it as gently as you possibly could. Because your hands are important to you.
