will it work on windows XP?

Yes, the modem works on XP and is installed on an XP system right now.  I am unsure as to whether or not the caller ID will function because I have had caller ID problems with our phone system with other CID modems.  The voice function works perfectly.

I need to have a dial up connection for my lap top  will this product achieve this?

Yes. I purchased this product for a customer of mine who has a new laptop with windows 8. She, unfortunately, cannot recieve DSL in her area and is subjected to Dial-Up. This modem functions very well and you can turn the dial-up sounds off so you don't have to listen to the connecting process.

does this work with windows 7  fax that comes with windows?

I specifically bought mine to use with Windows 8 Fax, and it works as desired.  I assume that it will likely also work the same with Windows 7.

Question 4

I purchased the Modem RNX-56USB and the CD says Windows 7 Ready.  There is no windows 7 driver listed on the CD What do I do????????????

Depending on your version of the Windows OS, it may already have the drivers loaded and, if not, you will be asked if you want Windows to search online for the appropriate driver.

I have never bothered to look at the CD included with a modem.  I just plug them in and they go.  ;)  Don't know what I'd do if they didn't.  However, have you just tried plugging it in/installing it???

Does the modem support Caller ID from the phone company?  I use software that used the caller ID and then moves the call to appropriate voice mail box all based in incoming caller ID.

I don't remember anything showing caller ID, when I receive faxes. I have had fax modems that showed caller ID before, but that was when I had Dial Up ISP.

That is in the receiving software, Description sez, it shows Caller ID for answering machine. I use just with Win 7 to send and receive desktop faxes, and it works good-n-eazy for that. Just like sending copy to the printer

I'm fairly new to this. my question is what else is that I need for faxing besides this? I've already got a printer, Epson 310

If you are using Windows 7 (I have the Home Premium edition), then nothing else is needed.  Windows comes with basic FAX software which will allow you to send faxes easily and receive them (not quite as easily).  Once the fax is installed (you just plug it in and let the operating system discover it -- do not use the included CD), Windows will install a fax "printer" to which you can print straight from your application.

What format are fax images stored?  Is it compatible with Windows Scan and Fax software on Windows 7?

The modem doesn't actually store images at all - that's up to your fax software.  This modem DOES work with Windows Fax & Scan; F&S's default fax-storage format is TIFF, but I believe you can change that if you want.  (I only ever needed to _send_ faxes from F&S, and I have Windows 8 now - otherwise I'd give a detailed walk-through.)

If this can be used in place of my WOW modem can I use a wireless  router to hook my 6.0 phones up to it as well as get WP for my 2-d pad ??

This is how I would look at it:  1. Check with tech support at my Internet provider and 2. check with CISCO tech support.  By checking with your Internet provider first you will find out if the modem is compatible with their system if you have not already done that.  If it is than they may be able to also answer your question above.  If it is compatible but they do not have the answer to your question then go to CISCO.

I don't know what a WOW modem is but I connected this modem to a n HP laptop running windows 8 and it works fine.
