Will it work with Windows 10 out of the box?

I'm glad you asked this question!  For me it did not work out of the box on Windows 10 with all updates/patches installed as of March of 2018.  It might work out-of-box now as there have been major patches released since then, I don't know.  SOMEONE TELL US!  To get it to work properly I had to obtain an older driver from Lenovo's website.  I got it from Lenovo because they still make it available in an official capacity (not a malware installer from some random website, etc.), not because I have a Lenovo.  My computer is a twelve-year-old nerd-build that's still running like a champ.  (old-but-fantastic Asus p5w dh deluxe motherboard )  The exact driver version I have installed is:  version 2023.14.615.2015.  The exact file name of the driver installer I keep in my archives is "Realtek 8821AE wireless LAN 802.11ac PCI-E NIC_2023.14.615.2015", which may not be the original file name.  The version of the diver in Windows 10 in March of 2018 was 2023.56.502.2017.  With this driver installed on Windows 10 I'm getting high-90s Mbps on fast dot com with my 100 Mbps Google Fiber service.  (hard-wired I basically get 100 Mbps, so the card's working great)

This network card sucks big time on versions of Ubuntu before 18.04, even with people's custom driver builds and stuff.  On 18.04 (Xubuntu, specifically in my case) this card is very stable out of the box and I'm getting mid-80s Mbps on fast dot com on the same computer, which quite enough for me even though there's clearly still some work to be done by the awesome Linux diver nerds.

How well does this wireless device work in Debian Linux?

This should work as long as Linux can recognize the hardware. If not there are a lot of drivers out there.
