Will this product give me wifi or just bluetooth?

This is a Bluetooth 4.0 adapter.  For WiFi you need a separate adapter (look for 802.11n or 802.11ac) - similar size, similar price.  But most devices have WiFi adapters built in today - check for that first please.

When I use this on my desktop I can get a good 10-15 feet away before it starts to breakup.

can you use this to connect an xbox one controller to a computer?

Depending on your Xbox One controller, yes. This device gives your computer full Bluetooth connectivity, so any Bluetooth enabled device will be able to connect to your computer with this device installed. As for Xbox One controllers, there is a help article for this which Newegg won't let me link. If you Google "connect Xbox One controller via Bluetooth" you should find the support article from Xbox(dot)com. Consult that before buying this to see if your Xbox One controller will work.
