Pros: Very small, works fine with my XP desktop about 60 feet away from my Linksys WRT54G2 . $10 delivered. I don't use this much since I also got a Rosewill RC-409LX 10/100/1000Mbps Switch which runs wired at 320MB/sec (byte, not bit).

Cons: None so far but, but I don't use it that often.

Overall Review: If you need one, buy one. It is so small and cheap, I got one I really didn't need, but still like it.

Pros: bought this to hook up a desktop to wireless so i would have to run more cords and it has performed great. Small so it doesnt stick out alot less chance of accidental breakage.

Pros: Steps to get the 8192cu driver to work under ubuntu 10.10 kernel 2.6.39 Make sure your ubuntu environment is setup to build things. I think the minimum would be the build-essential package. Run the following command to install that: sudo apt-get install build-essential Download driver from here: http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#2742 Unzip the driver. There were two source files (driver/rtl8192_8188CU_linux_v3.0.1590.20110511/include/rtw_io.h, driver/rtl8192_8188CU_linux_v3.0.1590.20110511/include/osdep_service.h) including a header file named (linux/smp_lock.h) that was not needed for driver creation. Chanage to directory you extracted the driver zip. In my case that was ~/Downloads/rt2/RTL8192CU_8188CUS_8188CE-VAU_linux_v3.0.1590.20110511

Cons: Edit the file driver/rtl8192_8188CU_linux_v3.0.1590.20110511/include/rtw_io.h search for the line: #include <linux/smp_lock.h> and comment it out like this: //#include <linux/smp_lock.h> and save the file. Pros: Works in Ubuntu 10.10 running 2.6.35 kernel. Super low profile. But only works in 2.4Ghz range (not true N, which is 5GHz). I had originally installed it using instructions found in a previous review (6/4/2011), and it didn't work. Then I noticed the instructions were for an earlier version of the driver (v.3.0.1590). The newest version of the driver (v.3.1.2590) installs fine using just the install.sh script. Below are updated instructions, for the new driver.

Pros: Small, you won't notice it's there. Great result, and easy installation.

Overall Review: For all that complains about the speed or connection, WAKE UP. This is a tiny internal antenna adapter. You won't get the same result as you might from the external antenna adapter. So if you want the great result, you should go spend some more $$.

Pros: Newegg, Please Cancel My Previous Review Of This Product. All my other adapters worked fine with my wireless router set to Channel 11. In a last ditch effort to get better performance from this product I switched my router's channel selection to Automatic. This corrected the terrible download speeds I was getting. Last test was 9899 Kbps, very speedy. I wanted to like this product, and now I do. I am glad I didn't give up on it.

Cons: Not sure why every other adapter I have ever owned worked fine with Channel Select set to Channel 11 while this one will not. Took me a lot of time and trouble to find the problem. Pros: Smaller than my fingernail, yet it gives me a stronger signal than my desktop's massive antenna. Perfect for a laptop and a great upgrade for lousy built-in wifi. Works great in Linux if you follow the steps below.

Cons: Tricky to set up in Linux. The proper drivers have to be installed manually on all distros. (They will not show up in Ubuntu's restricted drivers manager.) As such, I would not recommended this adapter for novice Linux users.

Overall Review: Linux instructions: 1) Download the 8192cu drivers from Realtek.com 2) Add the line "blacklist rtl8192cu" to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf 3) Run as root: "rmmod rtl8192cu" 4) Go to where you downloaded the drivers and run as root ./install.sh (For some distros (ie. Arch Linux) you may also need to add "8192cu" to the MODULES section in /etc/rc.conf.)

Pros: extremely fast shipping, plugged it in and work right away and the software that comes with it to manage connection works great
