I would like to try the software for this but the CD I received is unreadable and the rosewill website doesn't offer any downloads besides the PDF guides. Where can I get this software? What is it called?

There was no software that came w/mine.  There is nothing to "configure"--literally plug it in, connect the ethernet cable, wait a few seconds and you're good to go--if it doesn't break.  I bought two sets (4 units total) and one unit has gone bad.  It kept breaking connection and killing all my other units.  I replaced it and all my connections seem ok.

Question 2

My internet download speed is 45mbps. would I be able to get my maximum internet download speed 45mbps with these?

There is always some degradation of speed, regardless of how you connect your network.  Even if you connect your computer directly to your router, you would never get your maximum download speed.

Your internet download speed is a theoretical "maximum" speed.  Your actual measured speed will be affected by many things, including but not limited to, the wiring inside your house, the type of service you have (cable/fiber), distance from house to node, etc.  Fortunately, I live across the street from the closest AT&T U-Verse node:  I pay for 24 mbps and depending on speed test site I can get close to 21-23 mbps on a "good" day.  On a "bad day" I sometimes get 18-19 (even on U-verse, the last leg from fiber node to house is still copper wiring)

Most importantly though, all powerline adapters will be affected by the electrical wiring in your house and whether all your connected devices are on the same circuit or not.

Can you connect it to router?

I'm not using mine anymore since I decided to just install ethernet wiring all around the house, going through the attic and walls, but you have to connect one of these adapters via ethernet wire to your router, for any of the other adapters to work. You can have three, four or more, and they don't even have to be all the same model, or manufacturer.

Is it compatible with other power line adapter brands?

It is compatible with any AV plugs that run at 200Mb. Features like encryption may not work though.

Question 5

I would like to connect multiple devices to one adapter by connecting a network switch at one end. Will this work?

I  run an 8 position switch from these units. I have 4 pc's hooked to them and they work fine.

Question 6

I will most likely need a second set for an extra room in my house. Which means that i will get 2 packs with 2. Will they be compatible with one another? or will i have to dedicate another one to be connected to the router?

Accepted Answer

Only one needs to be physically connected to the router. So one for connection, and any others for rooms. If you need more than one additional room, then yes, you would need another kit. All the Rosewill units will work with each other, pass-thru, and non-pass thru. I use both types throughout the home. If you buy a different brand, there is no guarantee of compatibility.

Question 7

i have a pair of Dlink AV 200 powerline adapters i've been using with a desktop PC, and i'd like to expand the powerline network to another pc and game system in the basement. will these work with  my dlink setup? i assume that signal is signal and it shouldn't have an issue.
