Do you need any driver to operate this device?

No it is plug and play simply plugged it into the computer and plugged several external drives into it.  No issues so far with it.

can this be used with a Mac?

I'm using it on a PC and I'm very happy with it but can't say if it will work on a Mac.  Hopefully there's someone else using it on a Mac.  Good Luck!

Its about 10 inches long very short.. However I have an extension on it and its one of the best hubs I have ever used

can this be used for power distribution?

I can only comfirm that it had enough power transferred through the hub to power a thumb drive.  The buttons on the hub are illuminated so this is not a passive device.  I would not purchase to distribute power to  charge multiple phones or devices particularly if you were sharing the power among the four different ports.  I would be concerned with causing a fire hazard if connecting this to a charger with the intention of charging a couple of devices at the same time.  I don't believe that is the intended use of this product.

I am new to buying USB hubs, & need 1 to plug into my PS4, & play vids or music off of Flash drives on my console. The meek 2 ports isn't enough. Will this work for that? If not, can someone recommend 1 that would?
