thanks in advance for helping! I need to know: will this work with my 2008 Mac Pro? It's probably an easy question, but I get confused with all the variations of PCI cards.

Sorry I can't help. I purchased this product to use with a Linux operated PC, thinking that it would work like most plug and play usb or pci cards. It didn't. I gave it to my brother to use on his Windows 7 PC. I will say that I the purchased an 8 port Satechi usb PCI-e card., which worked fine out of the box, with no driver installation---for two weeks, then it died. Fortunately it only cost $19. Good Luck.
