SAMSUNG 2232BW+ 22" WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050 D-Sub, DVI LCD Monitor

Pros: This monitor is large, bright and very easy on the eye, probably because of its very fast response time of 2 ms. HL2 and F.E.A.R. run flawlessly on it in 1680x1050, without a hint of flicker or ghosting. A beautiful beautiful piece of electronics.

Cons: The base connects to the monitor through a somewhat flimsy plastic bulb to grommet assembly, making the monitor a little wobblier than most. If you don't smack your computer table or beat your keyboard when you type it won't be an issue, which is why I have taken no stars off for it ;)

Overall Review: The 8000:1 contrast ratio means colors appear very vibrant on this screen, not washed-out at all. This is an upgrade from a Samsung 941BW Black 19" 4ms and looks a lot nicer, as well as having a nice large power switch and clearly-labeled buttons. All in all, this really is a fantastic monitor especially for the price I paid for it on Newegg.

Pros: Excellent picture quality, great colors, and very good brightness without blinding the user. Games look AWESOME on this monitor. I bought this monitor for my sister, but I decided to try it on my own gaming system which has a 19" flat-screen CRT (connected with a DVI-to-VGA adapter). I connected this monitor using DVI, and enabled nVidia DualView with this monitor and my CRT. I would constantly switch between the two monitors to compare image quality for both games and movies. As far as games are concerned, the Samsung blew my current monitor out of the water (to be fair, my CRT is more than a few years old and is from a no-name brand, although it still has very good image quality). I could see much more detail due to brightness and superior image quality (and not just because of the higher res). Also good for web browsing and word processing. 22" widescreen is a logical step up for gamers used to 19" CRTs that display up to 1600x1200 res. I always felt 19" widescreens were too small.

Cons: Image quality when viewing video is very poor, but that is to be expected from a TN panel. You can definitely get used to it, but if you are coming from a CRT then you will be disappointed with video quality on this monitor. Very fast moving video in particular suffers - artifacts form and the pixels can't keep up with the color change, even with the overdrive function. This was not a problem when gaming. Spatial uniformity of brightness is not consistent, and the panel is brightest at the very bottom-center and especially the very top-center of the screen. You won't really notice this unless those areas of the screen are dark or black, and in those cases it is VERY noticeable. I have the drivers installed, but even so the max refresh rate at the native resolution of 1680x1050 is only 60 Hz. I would really like it to be at least 75 Hz, but no big deal. Other user reviews were right - the stand for this monitor is horrible, and the slightest movements cause it to shake distractingly.

Overall Review: I was so impressed by this monitor that I decided to get one for myself. I will game on this monitor while still watching video on my CRT. This monitor will hold me over nicely until monitors catch up with HDTVs and offer 120 Hz SPVA panels next year. After testing it on my system, I didn't want to give it back to my sister! At 1680x1050, there is a lot real estate on the screen. Newegg shipped it out fast and it was delivered quickly, and there were no dead pixels whatsoever. Aside from the wobbly stand, the poor video quality, the 60 Hz refresh rate at native res, and the slightly distracting brightness at the very top and bottom of the screen, I don't see how anyone could be disappointed at all with this monitor. Don't let those issues stop you from buying this monitor. Those are minor quibbles and this monitor is EXCELLENT. For the gamers out there who want a good gaming monitor without breaking the bank, this widescreen 22" Samsung 2232BW+ does the job extremely well.

Overall Review: I went from a DELL 20" monitor (2001FSP) to this SAMSUNG and all I have to say is WOW! This monitor is gorgeous. Cable installation was a little cumbersome, making the bend angle to get the DVI and power connectors was a bit difficult. The DVI is a bit short that is not a big deal, the image displayed is wonderful. No dead pixels. People have said that the stand is flimsy. My experience with the stand is that it requires a litlte bit more mustard to assemble, but once it is together it is quite sturdy. The stand allows tilt but no elevations adjustment.

Pros: Good picture quality, great for gaming. Reasonable support from samsung.

Cons: I purchased two of these monitors about 6 months ago...After 3 or 4 months one started flickering when it first was turned on. It progressively got worse and worse until the monitor stopped working completely. Samsung's support website was slow and worthless, but their phone support was exceptional. I got my RMA without much hassle, and they told me I'd have a repaired monitor in about a week and a half. About 4 weeks later I finally received it. Now the second monitor is flickering, so I get to go through the whole process over again. My other complaint about this monitor is that there is a LOT of light bleeding around the edges of the monitor. For me, this is most noticeable during the Vista startup screen, but people who watch a lot of video would probably be very irritated.

Overall Review: My friend told me I'd regret getting a Samsung and I should get an Acer instead. He's been proven right twice, and that irks me as much as the defective monitors themselves.

Pros: The 2 ms response is stunning at 1650x1050. Really easy on the eyes. Price was right too.

Cons: Took a little nudging to get the base in place. Blue power circle flashes in standby.

Overall Review: I had a feeling the quick response time would be nice and it turned out to be more pleasing than I thought it could be. Make sure to run it in 1650x1050 though. Anything less isn't as nice. Newegg's free shipping rocks.

Pros: Its great! The price with the sale going on most definitly makes it worth it!! No second thoughts about it. Very clear. It can be set to more clear or sharpness but something just doesnt seem right with it, so i set it to 60. The screen to matte. I like it, but some people dont agree with me...but who are they to tell me what to to. lol!

Cons: Seem in this section I need to complain about something...it would probably be the glossy black it doesn't match my case, which is matte black.

Overall Review: When the time calls for it I'm going to get a second one. Just to homework on one screen and play games with the other. haha

Pros: This display is just stunning. More or less a mini-me version of my 52" Samsung in the living room. Images are just gorgeous, video looks fantastic, and you can't beat the price here. NewEgg shipping is absolutely remarkable as well. Ordered late Sun night, arrived Wed morning.

Cons: Cons...hmmm....I can see DUST being a problem with the gloss-black frame and stand, but that's just nit-picking. Speaking of the stand...it has rubber feet to keep the display in place, but I don't think the rubber feet are actually touching the desk...the display seems to slide around freely, with my cat constantly nudging it and spinning it out of whack. Might have to put some thicker rubber feet on the bottom to keep it in place.

Overall Review: Absolutely worth the cost. I upgraded from a 17" Sony LCD that I've had for about 5 years, and it's like seeing a computer for the first time. I can't stop staring at it. I fully expected to like this display, but I was not prepared for just how much I would love it. 100% satisfied with this purchase.

Pros: Excellent picture, perfect.

Cons: None worth noting

Overall Review: Slightly wobbly, but otherwise perfect
