yes, it won't achieve the theoretical full speed, but it will be very very fast as opposed to a mechanical drive.  it will be night and day difference in speed!

I'm new to SSD,  but I have built many computers in the past.   Does the "Vertical"  means this is to be mounted differently than typical 2.5 HHD or SSD drives?   I wanted to try to reuse my existing case on my upgrade.

Absolutely not.  You mount it horizontal just like a platter drive.  If mounting in a PC you will need a 3.5 to 2.5 in tray adapter.  The term vertical refers to how the flash sells are stacked.  It's about the physical architecture of how the memory cells are constructed.

no fitting kit, but you can modd it to fit in an older case.. new modern cases with removable plastic drive trays usually have screw holes in the bottom of the plastic tray to secure the ssd.

I would say there is a significant increase in performance overall and if you were upgrading from a 840 evo, the difference will be noticeable. I am not sure on the 840 evo reliability vs the 850 evo but if you don't already have the 840 evo, I would definately get the 850 evo as it will definately be more reliable and faster. If you just want to spend as little as possible, then the 840 evo is still a good choice for light use. Although I can't say for sure on the reliability as I usually do general stuff / reads On my computers than a lot of writes.

Does this need a fan or any form of outside cooling other than base desktop internal fans? I have a slot for it. Does it run hot?

for a desktop, yes you would need an adapter to make it fit in your case.  I just have mine laying on top of the bottom most bay, which is fine as long as the computer doesn't move.  For the cable, assuming you have a SATA and not an IDE you can just use the cable that is being used on the old drive.  If you have an old IDE drive (the gray forty pin ribbon looking type cable) you'll need to buy both a SATA cable and power supply cable.

The Samsung 850 I bought did not come with any cables or adapters.  It was just the drive.

I got it a week ago, but only include SSD, install cd and guide paper. Where is the cable?

It appears the question is about the USB to SATA adapter used to clone the drive. Please note the description of the item when ordering. Since Newegg groups questions/reviews of similar items under one, it's hard to tell what item the question refers to.
Simply, if the item is a "bare drive" or OEM, or similar it will not have the USB to SATA cable. If it is a "conversion kit" or "upgrade kit", it will come with extra items (like the cable) and of course cost more.

sata 6 cable for the true speeds. And yes , my motherboard gave me mounting trays and tiny screws to mount it.

I had a problem but I believe it's my fault.

I cloned the drive from an eSATA port which is basically a possible no no.

Magician doesn't recognize the device as an SSD but it did boot but I didn't get my dual option boot I usually see. So I can't use the typical EVO stuff but it's super fast. I only had my drive hooked up before to some sata 3 and didn't get the 500+ mb/sec write or read speeds, lol.

I haven't check , but im pretty sure my current internal storage for my desktop is 3.5 will this still fit into my desktop?

Yes, though it depends primarily on what type of case you have. Most cases, probably going back as recently as at least the last 5 years, will have some kind of 2.5" mounting tray or bracket location built in to accommodate these smaller drives. Sometimes it's additional mounting screws on the bottom of a tray, sometimes it's on the bay cage, sometimes it's on the bottom of the case, and sometimes they come with a kit. It really all depends on what you're case provides (should be an easy look up in the owner's manual if you know your case model).

If, for whatever reason, your case does not have 2.5" storage options, there are also 2.5" to 3.5" bay adapters which will basically retro-fit a 2.5" drive to accommodate an available 3.5" bay.
