Why do people complain about this being plastic when it says in the description "High-quality plastic casing for durability with key ring to prevent loss?"

It did NOT always include the word plastic. When a search is done for Samsung Bar, this form factor used to only display the metal (silver) version. If you purchased this THEN, you might think you were getting a anodized blue metal casing. At least I did. The plastic casing wasn't mentioned clearly or distinctly when I ordered mine. Had I known it was plastic, I never would have chosen the "blue" one. And since it wasn't defective, it would have cost me money to just ship back + restocking fees.
