It has a hole to attach to, but it does not have a ring or anything to attach things to it. The hole is OK for a small key ring, but if it is a larger one or a lanyard, you will need to get an additional ring.

None, I even put it in complete darkness to make sure it wasn't sub-surface.

Will it work on old windows xt computer?

if you mean windows XP, then yes it will as windows xp can recognize drives up to 2tb in size

I apologize if this sounds stupid, but how does the "male" end engage the USB slot? I only ask because I have had some drives which "push and click" forward and have found that they eventually "loosen up" over constant use. Thanks in advance for any clarification.

It slides in the normal way, just like any other USB connector. There has been no noticeable change since I got it, but I use it as a backup device and to not insert and remove it multiple times a day.
