does the monitor have any noticible smearing or ghosting in games?

I had issues when I first set it up. Once I changed it from the default 1.2 to 1.4 all my issues went away. Mass effect andromeda then looked verdict with hdr enabled. Have played about twenty different games from ESO to pillars of enternity without any graphical issues. Using a Nvidia 1070 from ASUS

Can I play 4k games high settings on this monitor?

These answers are only half-correct. While the panel is 1440p, it accepts a 4k signal. So if you are PC gaming, you'll want to stick to 1440p output. However, the 4k downscaling feature is great for PS4 Pro, which can only output 1080p or 4k. You can select 4k on PS4 Pro and this monitor will downscale the image to 1440p. This is one of the few monitors that has this feature built into the monitor.

Why does this say 2k if 1440p is not 2k?

Terms like "2K" and "4K" don’t refer to specific resolutions. They are resolution categories. They are used to classify resolutions based on horizontal pixel count. "2K" refers to resolutions that have around 2,000 (2K) pixels horizontally.

Often 1440p 16:9 (2560 x 1440) monitors are either called 2k or 2.5k. The "k" terms are more marketing than anything else. Even 4k took a while to more or less standardize the actual resolution.

Question 4

Sometimes these monitors have a problem of difficulty in waking from sleep mode. Any reports of this monitor having this problem?

When I restart my PC I have to use an HDMI cable for the monitor to recognize the video signal.  I use a display port cable (1.4 I believe), I thought it was something with my MB or Video card.  It would appear that it is not the case.

It should be noted that there is an option for various versions of HDMI cables in the options menu of the monitor.  Could possibly play around with that as well to see if your results are more desirable.

Question 5

The arena lighting, does it only glow blue? I feel it would really clash with my overall build, I can imagine you could turn it off, but I wouldn't want to do that if I could change the color.

Blue is the only available color. You might be able to disassemble the cover and swap out the LED. I've not attempted it since I leave it off most of the time.

Good Day I'm trying to decided between SAMSUNG C32HG70 Dark Blue Gray 31.5" 1ms (GTG) 2560 x 1440 (2K) 144Hz, VA LCD/LED FreeSync 2 Curved Monitor, VESA Mountable, Height/Tilt/Swivel/Pivot Adjustable and the BenQ XR3501 35" Ultra Wide Curved VA Gaming Monitor, 2560x1080, 4ms(GT...?   I will be using the monitor to watch tv using my streaming apps.
I hearing that free sync is good but having trouble on choosing between the two, can you assist,, thxs Bert G from NYC.

The choice is very simple. I don't know how much other monitor cost but mind that Samsung's monitor uses QLED. This is the latest technology. VA panels uses much older technology. 
QLED beats VA, 144 refresh rate. Freesync is useless and is only used in games if you have AMD cards. I have gforce video card. I'm still getting used to colors but I don't regret. I was thinking about IPS Asus monitors but they are crazy with their prices.

Does this have to be used with Freesync to get 144hz, or is that base?

Also, Freesync with this model changes the refresh rate to 144. Radeon Settings shows freesync range to be 90-120fps for normal engine, and 80-120fps for ultimate engine. Unknown if it has Low Frequency Compensation. Monitor is also not listed in AMD's Freesync monitor listing.

Can someone please teach Samsung what a VESA mount is?

I am imagining they couldn't add the mounting either due to the LED's in the back of the screen or the tightness of the curve.

text and everything else is sharp as a tack

What does "Dark Blue Gray" mean exactly? Is the plastic cover blue? If so, will it come in a black option?

It basically looks like dark grey to me and I have a lot of natural light coming into my desk area. It does not look blue at all.
