Does this drive have a plastic cap over the USB end? I don't see a cap indicated in the pictures!?! Thanks.

No it does not.  Not sure if that is a concern for you but I have been keeping non-capped USB drives on my key chain for years.  Other than occasionally blowing out some pocket lint I have never had an issue.  Have not washed this one yet, but have had several others who made the trip through the washing machine with no issue.

My only issue with it has been that the hole in the side is too small to put a keyring through and it did not come with a loop string.  Took the loop string off another unit to use with it with this one.

What format is this drive?

Drives this size typically come as exFAT. They can easily be reformatted as NTFS if you're a Windows user. There are some reports of drives formatted as exFAT on Macs not being read correctly on PCs. Drives formatted as exFAT on PCs seem to work properly.

Will we be able to use this to transfer files/ pictures from a windows pc to an Apple Mac ? Are the files compatable. Is there a better way ?

Any computer with a spare USP port should accept and recognize this drive to read and write pics, documents, and many other file types.
