Pros: Unbelievable! This thing just plain rocks! When I opened the package I was in awe, bright shiny and brand new. The smell of fresh plastic encased electronic components had an exciting yet pleasing scent. As my excitement began to build I carefully peeled back the small strip of cellophane tape, the soft spongy bubble wrap was in my grasp. Held between my thumb and forefinger I began squeezing the innocently awaiting pockets of encased air. The sharp snapping sound was perfectly pleasing to the ear. When finally bursting the very last bubble it was time. Yes it was time, time to inspect my purchase. Rushing slowly through the process I noticed not a flaw. The tension was building equally with the excitement, anticipating the moment in which the installation would be complete and with a slight degree of healthy skepticism, I kept asking myself will this device perform as advertised? Cons: DOA. Bottom does not have a protective shield, any wire or cable that presses against the bottom of the drive will prevent it from spinning when reading the disk. Go for the Sony, has a protective shield.

Overall Review: Purchased a Sony and Samsung at the same time. WIsh I would have paid the extra $1 and purchased both Sony's.

Pros: Works Great if you need a floppy drive.

Overall Review: I needed a floppy drive for various reasons, this works fine with vista x64 and is plenty cheap enough.

Comments: Matches my Antec Sonata II case nicely. But no Pin 1 indicator on drive, and connector isn't keyed so I hooked it up backwards. Result: green light on drive was continually on. FYI #1: On this Floppy Drive, Pin 1 is on side of the connector farthest away from the drive's power connector (opposite what it usually is on most devices). After reversing ribbon connector, all is well. FYI #2: Also, the end of floppy drive ribbon cable with the "twist in it" attaches to the floppy drive.

Pros: I managed to get a drive that is mostly quiet. No matter what brand you buy they make seeking noise.

Overall Review: Works much better than the one I spilled coffee in.

Overall Review: Certain people think that having a floppy drive on a new computer is lame because the technology is so outdated. Others feel that a computer just isn't a computer without a floppy drive. For me the nostalgia is a factor, but also some older equipment I work with still uses this ancient device. Some of the CNC milling machines I use on a day to day basis require floppy discs to import part programs. I still enjoy it's simplicity and ease of use.
