Question 1

Does the screen have a matt or glossy finish. We want a matt finish. If this doesn't have a matt finish can you recommend another model?

I'm a network admin and I've bought about 10 to 15 of these for our office.  Using this model right now to answer.   These are matte finish and are really good monitors for the price.  I have been using this personally for my work monitor for about 2 years or so.  I never power mine off, some in the office do though.  We have had no problems with any we have bought.

Is this a Matte or Glossy display?

As everyone has answered, the display is matte. I am extremely satisfied with the 27" monitor. I have it tucked in between two 24" monitors. I have the Samsung 27" turned vertical. It sure makes for easy reading on emails. Generally speaking, I can see the entire email without even one turn of the scroll on the mouse. Gotta believe you will love it just as much as I do.

Does the matte in the product title refer to the the monitor bezel or the monitor screen itself?

Refers to the monitor bezel, not the screen. Also the screen itself doesn't seem to have the "glossy" effect that many monitor screens have (which, to me, is another good thing, since laptop screens, and glossy stuff in general, seems to make my eyes much sorer when I look at the screen for extended periods of time)

Question 4

Does this monitor had a Display Port connection?  Oddly enough, most of the tech specs on Amazon, CNET, CDW, etc. don't indicate that it does.

It has a DVI and VGA and HDMI port.

Question 5

Has anyone mounted this with a VESA mount? the specs say that it is compatible, but i don't see any holes when I look at the back of the monitor in the product photograph.

everything is hidden by the current mount as it attaches to it much like the wall mounts. The manual says it can be wall mounted.  I tried to send a link to the manual on Samsung's site but this form won't let me. go there and look at the online .pdf manual it shows the mount.
