Question 1

This might sound silly, but where is the power button?  I physically turn off my screen when I leave my workstation every time and am used to just the button in the bottom right.  If it's the knob thing on the rear bottom right (when looking at the front of the screen), how do I use it?  Is it just a push button or do I need to navigate menus each time?  Thank you!!

Yes the knob on the back is used to both turn off the display as well as navigate through the various menus and modes. From my understanding this is common among most Samsung displays. One thing that is slightly disappointing / deceiving for me is the brushed metal looking material on the base, closest to the veiwer. This material looks like metal however it is plastic, and careful observation will show that it actually bends downward in the middle due to the weight of the display. In no way does this "flaw" effect the performance of the display, in fact most people will probably never notice, well, except for our OCD friends out there. Hope this helps...

The screen has a flat finish. I'm a feature film editor so it's important I get a consistent image with no glare. Screens have been crisp and easily hold calibration.

Does SD590 have speakers ?

No speakers - but has output for speakers.
and two HDMI inputs.
Image is good - better than some of my other Samsungs.
CD with the package arrived warped (!) and unusable.

The screen appears to be  a smooth plastic. Picture quality does appear to be very good. I am using this in a 3 screen surround setup

Would this be a great monitor for a three monitor setup on a gt80 sl1 263 titan laptop setup? For autocad use and gaming?

We use these all throughout our office, most people with 2 or 3 each.  Not sure about your specific laptop or gaming, but we use them for autocad, among other things, and they're great

Can this monitor Samsung SD590 have the ability to mount a bracket for it, to get it off of the desk?

I don't think that is possible. The desktop base attaches at the bottom and I do not see any other mounting holes.

I was thinking of doing 2 monitors but was not sure if this would work for that, is it simple to set up as well?

I have two of them hooked up to a Win 8.1.1 box without incident.  They work fine like that.  You should have a video card that can output to two devices of course.

Hi Ron,

All modern monitors by reputable manufacturers feature something called "Plug and Play". In a nutshell, this means that all you need to do is plug in the monitor and it will work right out of the box. This means that you should not need to change any settings or install any driver / software for it to work.

In the extremely rare event that it doesn't work, Included with the monitor is a Software CD. This is pretty much not needed (I always throw them away). However, it usually includes software from the manufacturer and a copy of the computer driver (the software it needs to work). Install the driver and you should be good to go. If it still doesn't work, check all your connections and make sure you are using a valid port on your computer.
