Is this drive compatible with a SATA (SATA-150) connector in a laptop? If so, is it overkill since it has a SATA III  capability?

This drive is compatible with your laptop because SATA 1 (150 MB/s), SATA 2, and SATA 3 all use the same connector.

To answer your second question, the capability of supporting the SATA 3 interface is less important than the performance of the drive. You should get this drive because it has great IOPS performance and read/write throughput speeds. Even if your max speeds are limited by your laptop's SATA 1 cap of 150 MB/s, you'll still find a massive improvement in the speed of your machine with this hard drive because most hard drive reads and writes will fall below this speed cap simply due to most file sizes in general being less than 150 MB.

I have the dell xps 12 will this hard drive work?

It probably would. This uses a standard sata power and data connections. The only question is the thickness. I'm using it right now so I can't check but you should be able to look up the specs to make sure it's not too thick to fit into you computer. You'll need some way to clone or backup your current drive - use something like Paragon or Acronis and you'll need an external enclosure or a desktop with two free sata connections.

Yeah there's no reason it wouldn't work with that, you may need some sort of a SATA cable adapter for the SSD to plug into the laptop. Do your research and you should come up with something.

Question 4

Would this drive work in a Dell Optiplex 9020? The computer comes with 1 drive 256GB and I would like to double it's capacity.

That model of Dell does use SATA drives.  There are multiple form factors (case sizes), so I can't really say if you're can fit a second drive.  Take a look inside the case, see if there is room for another drive, and available SATA connectors on the motherboard and power supple.  If the motherboard has one and the power supple does not, you can get a 4-pin to SATA power adapter.

is this drive compatible with a macbook 13 inch-aluminum late 2008?

Yes this should work well. San-Disk has a pretty good rep as far as I know. Be sure you know what you are doing when taking apart the Mac Book Pro. This is the most risky part. I know that there are plenty of youtube vids to show you how. But watch as many as you can, as many times it takes before you jump in.

My wife's Mac Mini is a bit more complicated than the Mac Book Pro. Just be sure that you have your head wraped around the process before you jump in.
