will this work well in a Canon Power Shot SX50 HS camera?

SD cards should be about as universal as anything can be. If anything you'll have to format it in your camera and then it'll work. Only thing to worry about is if it's fast enough to work with the pictures and or video you're saving to the device, which it should be plenty fast.

Is this a UHS class 1 or 3?  Product description specifies both and is confusing.

UHS or Ultra High Speed Class simply means this: Class 1 cards write data at a minimum speed of 10 MB per second. A class 3 card writes at a minimum of 30 MB per second. As this is the higher class it covers both speeds. You can find further information by searching UHS Class speed.
