Will a 3.0 device fit in the same slot as a 2.0 or is there an adapter needed ?

USB 3.0 devices are fully backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports, but will be limited to 2.0 speeds.  USB 2.0 devices can also be used in 3.0 ports, but will not have the full speed available to 3.0 devices.

What is the speed of this flash drive?

As a USB 3.0 it should transfer at about 240 MB/sec.  I bought two of them and get transfer speeds of about 200 MB/Sec.  Another way to view it on a run I just did for you, is that I transferred 5 megs of photos from my PC to the disk in 3 minutes and 20 seconds. I'm very happy with the disk as I travel a lot. The disk is exceptionally light but solid; transfers data quickly, and holds a great deal of info for it's size. A final point is that I use a program called Folder Lock to encrypt the information to ensure it's protected while I travel.  That software runs fine on this flash drive and retains the speed regardless of using the encryption.

What are the read and write speeds? Not sure why any listings go up without those numbers front and center.

1.7 gb mkv file  w/r 238mb/s -202mb/s

if you need 128 gb flash this is the best , but expensive !!
if 64gb enough (i think enough) i prefer sandisk extreme .
same file via usb 3 with extreme64gb   243mb/s - 188 mb/s

Does this drive provide wear leveling, TRIM, etc. that would make it suitable as a Linux boot drive?

Hi shopper, well I am no real Geek, only 1/4 Geek, however, the Sandisk in question appears to be virtually indestructible and quite versatile, meaning, that it's designed for almost any application. I would, in your case, spend the few dollars and check it out for your application. Best of luck...

I have heard some comments saying that this device contains a true SSD controller with TRIM, FIT and wear levelling like an SSD.  Is this device just a big fast USB flash drive or is it an SSD with USB 3.0 interface?
