The specification of this drive claims that this drive uses MLC flash whereas online reviews state that this drive uses TLC flash.  Is this drive using MLC or TLC flash?

It, unfortunately, may be MLC or TLC. Some online research showed me that SanDisk changes the components in the unit and may or may not simply change the generation code (G25, G26, etc.). To be honest, however, unless you plan on going nuts with your drive (writing a lot of data or expecting the fastest speeds possible), it shouldn't make much or a difference for you. If it is super important for you, consider looking at the offerings from other brands (I'm initially thinking Samsung). Granted, your question is very old (2016, so it probably was MLC back then), and my answer applies to now (2019), but I figure that we should have updated answers for anyone still interested.

Yes, it should.

Normally a swap out is pretty easy (with basic IT knowledge, software, and tools). However, every machine can have its own complexities, and software transferring can be tricky (if you have licensed software installed that is somehow associated with your existing hard drive/solid-state drive).

A few things you should do first:
1. Make sure that you can access the existing HDD or SSD. Some "budget" laptops don't even have an accessible drive anymore. They instead go for on board SSD, so no ability to swap it out exists. My quick research into your system makes me think that you do have an existing drive, but double check.

2a. If you are going to keep the existing OS (operating system) installation, make sure that you can image your exiting installation so that you can transfer it to the new drive via imaging software (I use Acronis True Image, but there are many options purchasable right on Newegg).

2b. If you plan on installing a fresh copy of Windows, make sure that you download the necessary drivers and applications to run the machine afterwards.

Calling the SanDisk Ultra Plus a DRAMless product is only one-third accurate. This product has a variable bill of materials (BOM), which means that the vendor can (and does) change the internal components regularly without changing the name of the product series. At least a few end users earlier in the release cycle received drives with a Silicon Motion, Inc. (SMI) SM2246XT controller and MLC flash. More recently, users reported the SSD Plus came with the SMI SM2256S controller and TLC NAND. Some of the reports didn't specify which capacity.
