Neither, make sure the tower you get has a mount for 2.5, the motherboard should come with some cables

I am currently running Windows 7 off this SSD on a Lenovo ThinkPad. It works smoothly without any installation issues. The utility software from SanDisk reports vital information on the SSD, and helps enhance performance with regular check up

The X400 SanDisk picture appears to indicate a SATA connection, not the required PCIe M.2 X4 Slot for Samsung 950 Pro NVMe SSD

If your Toshiba laptop has SATA ports, then any 2.5" SATA SSD here should work for you. They are typically thinner or as thin as most spinning media.

I'm looking to upgrade my mid-2010 MacBook Pro to SSD but I've not had the chance to research which ones will work... do you know if by chance this is compatible? If so, will the 1tb also work?

I converted a 200X macbook to SSD and the process was flawless. If your macbook has SATA ports (it will certainly have them if it is 2010+), then any 2.5" SSD here should work for you. Use Clonezilla.
