Are drivers available for Windows XP?

Dear Bill,

I run Ubuntu which recognized the card automagically.  However, I found the cd rom Driver Installation Disk and it appears the answer is "yes, it can." I wish I could attach a picture of the front of the disk so you could make your own judgment.  However, at the bottom of the disk above the bar code is the following text:

Driver Ver.: 12-133(7/8/XP/Vista only) (8.982/9.002)(Cat. 12.8/12.10)

I think that confirms it for me.  So far, I've been happy with it. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

does this graphic card requires a cooling fan?

Nothing more than standard case ventilation is necessary. I never do anything very graphics intensive, and this is a pretty bad card if you're planning on doing any sort of gaming, but for a standard work machine it's excellent, especially for the price. The temperature usually runs around 40 degrees C, and will climb into the low 60s during very intense graphics use. This is in a Cooler Master ATX mid case with 4 case fans, though. Hope that helps!

My computer has a 250W power supply. I have noticed that other cards (e.g. ATI Raedon HD 5450) list a minimum system power supply of 400W, but this card does not indicate any specific requirement. I'd like to run 2 monitors, but I am not sure if the integrated HD card and i5 processor will do this efficiently? Thanks AJW

I looked it up, and the MAX power draw of this card is 30w. So unless your system is already near it's maximum load, you should have no problem. The only way to know for SURE would be to pick up a Kill-A-Watt meter that Newegg sells for like eighteen bucks. Plug ONLY your tower into it and see how much power it uses.
Also, this card DOES support up to 3 monitors via Eyefinity. But I hope you aren't planning on gaming with it. It's a low-end card with a tiny 64bit memory interface and DDR3 ram. I bought it only so that it would handle the task of decoding 1080p video instead of using software decoding, which it does very well.

I've got a Dell Inspirion 530 with a stock PSU. Probably around 250 watts. Will I be able to use this card with that size power supply?

Dear Don K.,

I rather suspect that the answer to your question is "yes, you can use it."  I have it installed in a HP Microserver n54L with 3 hard drives & 16 gigs of ram and that machine only has a 150W powersupply.  I've never experienced any malfunction with the machine and it has been running for about 6 months.  Unless, you really have something that demands a lot of electrical power on your machine, I think you should do fine.  Good Luck!

windows 8 compatible?

I can't guarantee because I use this card with Windows 7, however, I do not see any reason it wouldn't be. The graphics software that runs this card is called "AMD Catalyst Control Center". You may want to go to the AMD website and check if they have that software for Win8.

Question 6

Do you think this card will work in a pci 2.0 slot?
I have an asrock a785gm-le motherboard. it says it has a 
PCI express 2.0 x16 slot.

Yes. PCI Express is backward compatible. Just as long as it's still "x16" you should be fine, as these slots are generally used for graphics cards. You could even use a 3.0 card if you want.

Can I connect two monitors to this board?

Yes.  That is why I bought it also.  It works for dual monitors, each with independant screens rather than just duplicating what is seen on the first screen.  You can enlarge two different windows, one on each monitor.

By the way, we use remote desk top to log into Terminal Server 2008 and in order to stop just one window from stretching across both monitors we use a program called "Split View".  It works great.  "SplitView" solve some problem with dual monitors on Terminal Server 2008.  Just some extra info that may help you.

Yes, this card supports dual monitors.  However it is very unclear from a variety of sources whether you can use both the DVI and HDMI port at the same time.  You can definitely use DVI+VGA or HDMI+VGA, and there is also a chance that you can use DVI+HDMI.  You definitely cannot, however, use all three outputs at the same time on this specific card.

My version of the card came with two low profile slot brackets, to support three different connectors. I didn't need low profile, but the card likely supports it.

will this card work in a dell optiplex 760 sff that only has 235 watts?

It should.....I had it in an off-lease Dell desktop when I bought it and it worked fine. Be sure not to put too many more cards in it; it didn't seem to draw a lot of power (the bus power on the motherboard handled it) but play it safe especially if it is an older Dell
