Since this is discontinued product, it doesn't have the new never settle bundle but seriously the card is amazing you'll have a hard time finding a better card especially at the lower price of the 7990

whats the difference between sapphire msi or gigabyte? i see all of them sold out and powercolor is still in stock, is there any difference?

Nothing. They are all reference models. The reason certain models are sold out is because they went on price special awhile ago. Also, Sapphire is known for great customer service and reliability.

In this case all of the HD7990s aside from the Devil13 model and the older 3 slot PowerColor, are the exact same. The $500+ PowerColor model is an outstanding price.

Question 3

I bought this card and connected it and it starts up (well the fans run at least) but there's no display. I used 6 pin power connectors instead of 8 pin, is that the reason why it's not working?

Please use only the 8 pin set-up. If you donot have the right transformer please get one with the correct connector set-up.My transformer is a corsair 850, works perfect with this card . Iam very pleased with my HD7990 .

Question 4

I've had this installed on two systems. Nothing was different other than one was an Intel i7 build with the ivy bridge, and the other was AMD 8150 build. Since then i've not been able to control the 3rd fan (by the second GPU which also has been noted to be stuck at 99% from other users questions) since i've moved to i7 build. Has anyone heard a solution for this? Because no fan software that is out there has fixed my problem. The fan works it's just not controllable and is slow causing it to get hot in the 2nd GPU area.

Hi guys, i was able to find that there is a bug in CCC which was keeping me from achieving the ability to use the 3rd fans speed manually. The problem was that if you have the first GPU under the "Select the GPU to be configured:" option at the top under AMD overdriver, and the Enable manual fan control is unchecked + the other GPU is then checked it was causing my hot keys which in turn are supposed to activate my saved profiles to fail on that fan. So basically you have to make sure the default is the same for both before activating any profiles. I have tested this and that was the issue :/. Crazy i know but i managed to get the 3rd fan going! Yay!

I am planning on using this gpu to play crysis 3, bf4 etc games on ultra at 1080p. Will 1 card run a 32in monitor at 1080p without fps loss?

I don't have bf4, but crysis3 runs in ultra with no problem and bf3 does also. Played Risf, and others with no problems, it does have a high pitched wine at this settings, but it is not annoying to me at this time, the only regret I have is I wished the game codes would have worked that was sent in my box. Seems they had expired even though I purchase the card in the correct time frame. Hope you enjoy as much as I have already.

Question 6

This is my first high end graphics card.  I spoke with sapphire tech support about the second gpu showing 99% activity and the tech said it was normal.  I've got the latest cat ver 13.9 installed.  But I wanted to get a second or third opinion on this?  As far as I can tell, my pc isn't infected with malware or a virus like the bitcoin mining virus and it only seems to happen if firefox is running and that's with hardware acceleration enabled, or disabled.  This doesn't happen if Chrome is being used.  Is this happening with anyone else?  And is it normal or should I do an RMA?

So, after I tried a few scenarios I determined that GPU-Z was maxing mine out. I wasn't in a game yet, or doing anything graphics intensive. It just maxed out upon opening it that program.  I haven't noticed it in anything else yet. I'll put some other apps i notice it in if i find them. I don't have firefox, but Chrome seems to be fine in this case for me too, and doesn't max it out. I have an intel platform now and before i had AMD. I didn't notice it when i ran AMD platform, so it is possible that is a problem too with GPU-Z and Intel chipsets. I have used both versions of the CCC/Drivers of latest beta and regular.

How does this card boost? Is it a little switch on the side like the 6990 or is it automatic. Is boost stable?

no switch on the side unless u get a powercolor 3 bay version it auto boost and they are the best cards made i run 2 water cooled.just make sure u have the room and the power supply to run it

I doubt these will ever be in stock again. AMD has halted the HD7xxx series altogether. While the r9-280x is really just a re-branded HD7970, they definitely will not make any branded-HD7xxx-series cards, and they will phase out the technology used in them for the new lineup they have now. The ones you see available (if any) are just floating around in the marketplace).

The problem is- they don't have a duo-gpu solution in the new lineup. And when they came up with one for the HD7xxx-series, they did it with about a year left in the series' product life. So one has to wonder if they will have enough time to do that with this R9-series.
