Any idea why there are multiple refurbished? Was there a catastrophic failure with a large production run and they "patched it"?

The main difference between "refurbished" and "used" products is that refurbished products have been tested and verified to function properly, and are thus free of defects, while "used" products may or may not be defective. Refurbished products may be unused customer returns that are essentially "new" items, or they may be defective products that were returned under warranty, and resold by the manufacturer after repairing the defects and ensuring proper function.[1]

Other types of products that may be sold as "refurbished" include:

Items used in field tests, sales displays or demonstrations[1]
Items returned for reasons other than defect and tested by the manufacturer[1]
Items returned to the manufacturer because the box or item was damaged in shipping[1]
Previously leased units that are turned in and resold after the lease ends[2]
Used electronics that have been turned in to an electronic recycling program[3]
Used items that have been donated to a charity or non-profit organization[3]

Question 2

I just got 2 of these cards, however even though the # on the box match exactly. Mine do not match the specs as having 8 pin connectors, mine have two 6 pin connectors, The picture doesn't match either. So if this is an earlier version I assume I just use the 6 pin and disregard the other 2 pin? Are the rest of the specs the same? Are there specs for this version?

Can I run this in Crossfire with my Sapphire 100352-3L Radeon HD 7050 3GB??

Yes, in theory, but I don't recommend it. A single dedicated GPU is always better than a dual GPU (e.g. Crossfire) setup. Unless you have a wicked cooling system, you will likely run into overheating issues, in which case you are probably financially capable of upgrading to a single dedicated GPU of higher quality anyway. This is a low to moderate power GPU anyway. The only situation in which I would ever run 2+ GPUs is if I had money to burn and could afford THE top end GPUs for my system.

Bottom line recommendation: If you have some spare cash, sell the 7050 and pay the difference upgrade to a higher-end GPU.

Will this work in a Mac? If not what would you recommend?

Question 5

Windows 8 isn't listed under the supported operating systems,  so does that mean it really can't work with any OS beyond Windows 7?

My guess is that the card initially came to market before Windows 8 was available and no one bothered to change the text after Windows 8 was introduced. I would be willing to bet my left appendage that Windows 8 will have the necessary drivers.
