Keep both your desktop processor and motherboard cool with the uniquely designed Scythe Andy Samurai Master CPU Cooler. Scythe used its Infinity Interleave Fin Structure with six aluminum pipes to draw heat away from the copper cooler base that sits on the processor to a series of heatsink fins for quick and efficient heat transfer.

Completing the high-end design is a 120mm sleeve-bearing fan. The "Top-Flow" placement of the fan allows for airflow to cool both the CPU and the motherboard components at the same time, giving you more bang for your buck. Spinning at 1,200rpm, it creates enough airflow without adding a lot of operating noise to your system.

The Andy Samurai Master will work Intel and AMD processors including the latest Core 2 Duo and Athlon 64 X2 dual-core models, and is designed for fast mounting on almost all modern motherboards thanks to its versatile toolfree multiplatform system. Because you can install it without tools, the compact, versatile CPU cooler can be attached in minutes.

  • newegg Infinity Interleave Fin Structure The Infinity Interleave Fin Structure efficiently absorbs heat from all 6 heatpipes and produces "Top-Flow" to cool the CPU and motherboard components simultaneously.
  • newegg Easy Installation The newly-developed mounting mechanism "VTMS (Versatile Tool-Free Multiplatform System) enables extremely convenient installation without additional tools or the need to remove the motherboard from your case.
  • newegg Extra Quiet The sleeve bearing 120mm fan works at a whisper-quiet 20.94 dBA.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility As an all-in-one solution for PC systems, the Scythe SCASM-1000 features broad compatibility with all AMD socket 754, 939, 940, AM2 and Intel 478 and 775 platforms.

Andy Samurai does the job 9/2/2009 12:12:05 PM

Pros: The Scythe "Andy Samurai" does the job in my CoolerMaster C5 case on my A8n32sli-Deluxe board running an EN7900GT card with 550W PSU, 3 gig Kingston RAM. Temps are solid at 31c for CPU and 38c MOBO. (idle) Fan spins at 1240 - all according to Asus Probe II. Nothing overclocked.

Installation was medium hard 'cause I had to use pliers to close the clips on each side of Andy's 939 socket connector. (Amd dual core 4400+). One thing to take note of, if you're an average rookie like me, is to make sure you locate the thing with the pipes opposite the RAM sticks on an A8N32SLI-D board like mine. Otherwise the pipes will contact that first stick of RAM. Don't need that heat over the sticks anyway. Locate the pipes over the fins that come with the stock mobo cooling. (another added bonus).

Cons: None. So far.

Overall Review: Andy Sammy cools mobo but also seems to help with GPU temps as well. (wishfull thinking? maybe.)

Side "tunnel" on left side of case - if you have one - will have to be removed.

Front fan - Andy - and rear fan (and PSU fan of course) are quiet and effective. (for my purposes).

Not too shabby 8/10/2009 5:26:20 PM

Pros: first, newegg shipping: A+ this is a very large (if you have a cpu vent on the side of your computer, you will have to remove it) cooler, that does a good to excellent job of cooling factory dual core and single core cpus. I started it out on my socket 939 3800X2. but after i overclocked due to higher gaming requirements, it wasnt keeping up. i simply replaced the 120mm fan with another that had a higher cfm rating, and viola, ice cold while overclocked from 2.0 to 2.7ghz. I used a green LED fan when i replaced the factory black one, which looked very cool in my green Apevia XCruiser case!

Cons: if you can get past its size, its ok. just beware if you are running overclocked dual cores, or quad cores as it might not keep up with them! amd's do tend to run warm so be warey!

Overall Review: as far as bang for the buck, not a bad item. installed solid on my asus socket 939 mobo. looks super sharp, almost like a V6 motor with header pipes! decent finish. I would recommend to anyone building a showy system that doesnt need alot of power requirements

Junk 6/22/2009 6:36:59 AM

Pros: Looks impressive, not too heavy.

Cons: Didn't cool q6600 G0 hardly at all. at 2.4ghz idle temp was 54c, I overclocked it to 3.6ghz and idle temps where 71c! (Dropped the OC down to 2.4ghz because 71c is wayyy too hot) I bought another CPU cooler.

Overall Review: EVGA 790i Ultra
q6600 G0 @ 3.6ghz
2x2gb Mushkin PC3 12800 @ 1800mhz 7-7-8-19 1.92v
gtx 280
2x 150gb WD Raptors in Raid 0
550w Antec TruePower Trio (yes it may seem low psu but it's from previous build and works just fine with 1 gfx card!)
Windows 7RC x32 (x64 didn't like Raid 0 cfg.)

Typical Scythe High Quality 6/18/2009 6:16:32 PM

Pros: Many Heatpipes, plenty of Aluminum Fins. Very quiet fan. Will fit most MotherBoards. Socket 478 use easy and secure. No-Nonsense appearance - I like that.

Cons: Mounting insufficient for vertical mounting in Socket L775 applications - typical Plastic PushPins.

Overall Review: I really like Scythe Products. They are very well made. The CPU Coolers are quiet (though I don't care about that myself). More important, in applications that are not overclocked their CPU Coolers really don't need a Fan at all.

Massive, but good CPU fan 6/12/2009 9:00:57 AM

Pros: Believe me when I say this CPU fan is massive. The picture doesn't do it any justice. It's huge. Considering its size, I expected the inside of my PC to sound like an airport. It's fairly quiet, considering how big it is. But I'm pretty tolerant to fan noise. It does it's job well and keeps my system cooled down.

Cons: Because of its size, it was hard for me to get everything plugged in on my board, especially the 4-pin CPU plug. Also the brackets in order to mount it to the board were a bit strange, but they work.

Overall Review: AMD AM2 790X ATX Mobo
AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.8GHz Dual-Core CPU
4 Gb RAM
GeForce 9600 GT

6/4/2009 6:12:59 AM

Pros: This thing is massive, I didn't realized the size it was when i ordered but lucky it still fit with plenty o room to spare, with the fan on this thing there shouldn't be any cooling issues.

Cons: None that I know of only time will tell

Ineffective 4/21/2009 8:06:56 AM

Pros: Silent.

Cons: Difficult to install securely (with 1366 bracket) and was ineffective. I have an ASUS P6T deluxe and could never get this cooler to be as effective as the stock cooler. Ended up returning this and getting the Noctua for the I7 instead, which dropped temps by 10-12 degrees.

Great Cooling 3/11/2009 9:20:42 PM

Pros: used this on a athlon 64 x2 6400+ when i bought it, ran my processor at about 58-62 degrees. Since then I upgraded to the phenom ii x4 940, still keeps my processor within the 62 degree range.

Cons: this thing is BIG, wasn't much of a problem for me, but can be for others.

Overall Review: Give this thing some air to breathe, I actually made a big hole in the side of my case (filtered by an old window screen) to allow it to get proper airflow. if i didn't, then my temps would be at 72-73 degrees.
