The headset comes with its own 7.1 surround sound dongle that is USB only. However, sennheiser also sells a 3.5 mm braided cable that can be used with this headset. If your PC's soundcard can already simulate virtual surround sound then the 3.5mm cable will work fine. It's almost $20 and can be found on newegg or sennheiser's website.
