How long is the USB cable?

About 4 feet. It's got a braided covering on the cord that is really nice. Owned a literal pile of mice in my life and would never buy another brand. This thing is great. I use it for 3D modeling. It even has a button to choose between three different curser speeds. Just get the thing. You won't find better for the price.

would this work effectively on a mac?

This mouse is pretty damn good! It has multiple different sensitivity options which you can switch between. Although I'm not a fan of the claw-grip style mouse, it become a minor issue once you get used to it. This was my first true gaming mouse, so overall I'd rate it 4.2/5.

I am a speed runner and I need a smooth rolling mouse wheel, with no clicking. Does this mouse have this?

The mouse wheel is smooth, but does have clicking. Mouse works well for me, playing mostly MMO and FPS games.
