I am aware that certain barebones kits have different provisions and features. Do I need to purchase a processor for this kit?

Yes you do. I purchased the i5. I would go straight to the i7 unless your patient and can wait for the price drop.

I have Windows Server 2012 running Hyper-V and SharePoint Servers in a Domain. Runs great so far on this Chassis with 16GB RAM. I've thrown 3 Servers at it running at the same time and it runs great. It also comes with an HDMI Port so you can buy the newer Touch Screen Monitors. I bought a Dell S2440L and it is big and has great graphics. However, no Server 2012 Touch Screen drivers for this monitor and OS combo yet.

The kit comes with the heatsink, heatpipe and fan. You just need a processor, memory and a drive. Very good kit.

this computer does not have a processor. you need to get 
an Intel  ivy bridge with video so that you get your video and HDMI also working. 
If you Google SH67H3 there is a very good color brochure that explains what kind of CPU you need for your needs.

Will the 300W psu handle a mid to high-end nvidia card (> GTX-460)?

I'm running a EVGA SSC 01G-P4-3652-KR GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card in one right now. Been stable for about 6 months.  Intel Core i5-3350P Ivy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 69W Quad-Core Desktop Processor, 8GB crucial ballistix, WD Black 2TB. No problems. CPU was a lower power model without the built-in video.

The specification indicates an SP/DIF output via fiber optic cable, but I don't see such an output in the images.  Can anyone who is using this for 5.1 or greater surround sound confirm this?

Yes it has a SP/DIF output on the rear upper right side of the case. I have ordered a few unit for customers at my shop over the past few months and can accurately confirm

Is the motherboard on this product version 2?
It would be labeled: FH67 V2.0 inside the product. There's no information about this that I could find.

I've ordered 20 or so of these over the last 2 months (1/2 from Amazon and 1/2 from Newegg).  So far they've all been v2.0.  The only difference has been that some have BIOS 2.03 and others have 2.04.

Will this hold an AMD R9 280X?  Manufacturer's website says it's compatible, but I'm worried about the size.

I would say it will not fit.  I have this case and I am very happy with its format and size.  The video card you want to install in this device is quite long and may not fit.

Does this have BOM V2.0? I'm trying to figure out if this Shuttle SH67H3 is compatible with the Intel i5 3570K.

Question 9

When it goes to sleep, the network card doesn't appear to wake up, and the network is unavailable until I restart the system. Has anyone else run into this? Were you able to fix it?

Yes Scott,

I have run into the same problem. It is a timing problem on wake up. I have been able to recover it by disabling the Local Area connection, then letting the system recover the connection in the troubleshooting pathway in the Network and Sharing Center.

Hi all, I've been planning to build a steam machine some time in the near future. I'm torn between this case and a very slim Silverstone case, and tbh, it's leaning towards the other case, but this system is very intriguing.

I will most likely be repurposing the GTX 660 SC (EVGA) from my current build to this machine. Will I have clearance and will the included PSU be enough? I tried Shuttle's wattage calculator, but they don't include GTX 660 as an option. :)

That's a good one. I'm using my Shuttles as ESX servers so haven't tried to use them with any other video cards. I would imagine it would work though. A friend used his with a Quadro 4000 or 5000 I think and it worked fine. Sorry couldn't be more help outside of that.
