Would this allow me to extend the single screen onto two monitors or does it simply duplicate the screen? If not, what would allow me to extend the screen?

Jorge is incorrect. You can connect a monitor to the monitor port, and a flatscreen or monitor to the HDMI port, and you can set Windows to "extend my desktop" (instead of mirroring) and it works just great. We have a NUC already set up this way, so I know exactly what I'm talking about.

Does this unit come with an AC adapter?

Hi, I don't think it does. The back of the unit has the VGA input which also has a small usb dongle spliced into the VGA cord to help power the actual adapter. Seems to work fine for me, one 50ft run and the other is a short 4ft run.

Question 3

I have a VGA and HDMI output from my computer, the VGA is currently connected to an old monitor.  I bought an extra monitor that  I want to extend but only has VGA and Display port. I tried a Display port to HDMI converter but did not work. Will this work?

No.
This is just an analog signal splitter, it sends the same signal to 2 devices.
DP to HDMI should have worked, but it is normally just a cable, when you say converter it sounds like you are using some external box.

Anyways, the answer is NO.

will this product work with a laptop? I want to have two external monitors and not ust the laptop screen.

I believe this would work just fine with a laptop. I do not think this is what you are looking for though. The two monitors you are using would have the same image. If you are looking to be able to drag different applications to different monitors it will not work. I use this to watch you tube videos and items I cannot stream on my 60 inch TV. It works good if you want identical images on both screens.
