does this need a power plug in computer, there is not an extra one in my HP desktop, also will it work on windows 10?

This card will plug into a PCI express port on your motherboard, which is typically located below the video card port that faces the back of the case near the bottom of the tower. Once you have the card installed, typically you will need to install drivers for the device that you want to plug in. I use an older firewire audio interface with this card in the Windows 10 environment with no issues.

they actually do not make a half height bracket for this card, believe me I called the factory.  The good news is that with a hacksaw, two pairs of pliers, some bending, drilling,  and a bit of patience it will fit a half height case.

I don't see Windows 7 (64bit) listed in "Supported OS's". Will this card work in this OS?

I installed mine into a pegatron mobo running 64 bit windows7 and was immediately able to hook up my handy cam and transfer a movie to the HD.

I am adding this card to my unbranded desktop PC using its PCI express 16 slot. This is to enable me to hook a Saffire Pro 14  firewire interface up to my PC. On my Lenovo thinkpad T400, the ricoh 1394 chipset was non compliant with the DICE drivers an OHIC compliance tool said for the reason that the "device not connected" message was given me. Will this adapter work for my PC?

Yes it should. By default on most laptops the 1394 port is disabled by default as it is not a widely used port. In most cases these cards are your best solution. Just make sure you take the necessary steps to ensure the proper card installation with drivers and you will be fine.
