No. It does have a cute little LED light up there that shines on the keyboard. The light toggles in and out so you might miss it.

fingerprint reader or no?

My HP EliteBook 8440p Notebook came with a Finger print reader; and, it also came with a camera in the top of the lid.  I have not tried either to see if they work.  My battery seems a little weaker for holding a charge than I expected. The laptop boots Win7 Pro fast and runs a 3D modeling program (Autodesk 3DS Max 2014) well---which is what I needed it for during multiple summer workshops initially. My employer previously loaned me a Dual Core HP laptop with glossy screen---so the matt finish in this one is a bit of a let down.  But overall, the newegg price seems good for what I got in this product.

is the hard drive solid state disk?

Mine did not have a SSD, and I doubt the ones currently for sale have a SSD because the disk is listed as a HDD.

does it have usb ports, hdmi?

I'm not sure if it has HDMI but I believe it has a usb port.. not in front of it currently.  My son (11 years old) uses it.

One thing I do want to mention is to have sound on the laptop and also thru the headphone jack both I had to reinstall the audio driver from the HP website (Professional license).

The sound worked fine thru the laptop but my son bought some headphones, with mic and we could never hear the sound thru the headphones until we reinstalled the correct driver.  Worked like a charm.  It's been a great notebook though for our needs, so far.

Yes.  It has a wireless controller built into the system already.  It also has a standard ethernet port if you need a wired connection.

It has a camera, but I haven't seen a fingerprint reader.  It also has a serial port included, which I have used.  Very nice computer, no bloatwear, since it's refurbished.  Best buy I ever made!

Embedded in the bezel are a webcam and a keyboard light, but when they refurbished the Notebook....it doesn't look like there are webcam drivers or software to operate or even locate....
