What are they made of?

Plastic, all plastic. The only thing that's not entirely plastic are the magnets embedded in the plastic. An important thing to take note of is this: the magnets are only strong enough on one side of the filter. So, if it's not sticking, flip it over. If it's still not sticking try both sides on a known magnetic surface, like a refrigerator. if it's still not sticking you might want your money back.

Would this reduce the effect of an LED fan? Does it make it a lot dimmer, or would it shine through no problem?

Hey Dave, it makes it slightly dimmer however its worth it especialy if your covering an intake fan these filters make a massive difference in how clean your internal components are on a regular basis so I would say it's worth it.

Will this mount properly with Corsair SP120 fans?

Should be a simple matter of placing the filter over the fan grill first than the fan and screwing it all in as you normally would. It can be a bit of a hassle as the filter will want to slip out of place on you so I would suggest securing two opposite top and bottom corners first.

Are these filters washable?

Yes they are washable. I have rinsed mine several times with no problem.

How snugly does this attach to the case? Is there any open space between the case and the edge of the filter?

The magnet's on the filter are pretty strong, there is no open space between the case and filter (just be sure its the right size.)

Question 6

Is this magnet safe enough to put right next to my harddrive cage? I plan on buying 2 of these.

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem.  It's not a super-strong magnet, but even if it weren't, the HDD cage should provide some protection.
Beside, If this was a problem, someone would have complained by now!

P.s.  My side fan is mounted further to the rear so I didn't even think about it until now.

Is this rigid enough to put on the intake side of a fan with exposed blades and no grill?
