Question 1

Could I plug this into a 4-pin PWM connector to use as a cpu heatsink fan? Also, if anyone's done that, does it have smooth shifts from low speed to high speed?

Even though the main power connector is 4-pin molex the single wire brown can plug into your cpu header but you need the larger plug for power.  The single brown is for rpm reporting to your board.  Control is by a pot style dial and ramping is completely variable and smooth.  They are quite loud when faster than 50-60% speed (still quieter than most others though)but move and incredible amount of air.

Is there a way to connect multiple ones into one connector, or would I have to buy a separate aftermarket fan controller?

Depends on what you want. I bought 4 of these for my quad radiator. I used only one bracket and modified it to accept all 4 fan controller potentiometers. The bracket is just large enough for 4 of them. It looks great and made it easy to adjust them off a single panel and they're all still independently controlled. However, each fan is still using it's own power source from the PSU. I'm sure you could splice the wires together but I wouldn't recommend it.

Has Mounting holes for the standard 120mm and 100mm holes.
If you're asking about depth, it's a pretty shallow fan for what i needed in a micro atx case. hope it helps.

Are you able to plug this fan into, and control it, with an aftermarket fan controller?

I know that it came with a 3.5"  bay controller. I can't imagine it would have any problems plugging into an aftermarket one. The one that came with it is pretty simplistic. It's basically just a potentiometer that controls the speed of the fan. I've never done aftermarket fan control so I can't really say.

What is the operating voltage? I don't see one listed.

They plug into the 12 volt side of plug but they are variable speed. I use that when I am not gaming I have the all wired to one switch and I turn them down, but when gaming I turn them up and they push and pull tons of air through 360 rad's. I use these fans exclusively.

As far as I am aware, it's the noise level of the fan. Essentially how many decibels of sound the fan makes between it's minimum and maximum operating speeds.

Are these good for a 360mm rad with 14.6 FPI?

Yes they are. I use this bad boy for my cpu cooling because its got one of the highest rpm's ive seen (recently). Thing is its pretty loud at Max speed

If it pushes the amount of air you need while still being withing your power parameters then yes. I love all mine, they keep my airflow going.

If you have the heatsink already and a decent way to mount it, probably, but it's just designed to be a case fan, and I wouldn't recommend it.

Can anyone tell me how to splice these to work with both the 3 pin and 4 pin molex connectors?  I'd like to use 2 of them with my cpu cooler(4 pin) and 4 of them with a 4 way fan controller(3 pin).

The tiny 4 pin connector that you see in the picture connects to the 4 pin connector on the motherboard. It will also work connecting it to a 3 pin connector on the motherboard, it just won't be variable speed. Molex, is the big fat white connector shown in the picture. It does not connect to the motherboard. It instead connects to the molex connectors attached to your power supply. The fan will work whether it is connected to the 3 or 4 pin connector on your motherboard, or if it is connected to a molex on your power supply. There is more than one way to power a case fan.
