Can the fan be replaced with a third-party fan? I am curious if it only works with slim 120mm fans.

It's a standard fan mount so you can use any 120fan. Whether you need a low profile would be dependent on your application clearance. I used it on a low power i5-s processor in a Silverstone SG08 case so I dont have much extra clearance. It cools well enough that I  seldom hear it run.

Question 2

Is this a good choice for an AMD CPU? Is it pretty quiet under load, and does it keep the CPU pretty cool under load? (Not overclocking)

I bought this in 2013 and put it on an old AMD Phenom processor. It keeps it pretty cool, with no overclocking, and is definitely much quieter than the stock heat-sink and fan. AMD's typically idle much cooler than Intel's. I want to say that my idle temp normally sits at about 27C whereas my Intel with liquid cooling is about 33C at idle. I just remembered that I put a Silverstone AP121 fan on it instead of the stock one that comes with it.

Is it compatible with Intel Socket LGA 1150?

yes, per the Silverstonetek website:

"Intel Socket LGA775/1150/1155/1156/1366/2011 and AMD Socket AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2 compatible"

now using the NT06-Pro in both my small form factor gaming rigs.
have used them with 775, 1150, 1155, and 1156... no issues.
