Could this handle an i5 4590 and a gtx sc 780?

I'm running a core i3 4340 and an r9 290 without problem. It's cutting it close, but I think this power supply can handle most high end graphics cards.

Check to make sure your case can hold the graphics card though. I'm using the mini itx raven and the heat pipes on the card blocked the mounting bracket. I had to use a rubber band to hold the card to the bracket.

can this support a 8 pin and 6 pin connector on a gtx 1080?

Yes.  I used it on a 980 (with two 8 pins).

The connectors are the usual 6/8 combo ones that can be either (slide out the last two pins if only need 6 pin) and can accommodate two 6 pin, two 8 pin, or one of each.

Will this be able to handle 8 5TB drives and if so is it possible to get extra power sata to satisfy the 8 drives?

should be enough to power then and then some.  You can get mulex to sata converters to convert the other mulex 4-pin peripheral power plugs to SATA. newegg part number:N82E168122 26057.  you can probably find a cheaper one I just did a quick search

I would get a chassis that has an 8-bay SATA Back plane in it, you will only need to mulex plugs to power the backplane.

It's sized for the 120mm fan.  Some SFF cases can handle this no problem.  My Ncase M1 not so much :-(

Is this PS one of the ones that will work with a Silverstone RVZ01 Mini-ITX case?

Yes BUT it is NOT one listed for the watercooling how-to. Be aware, I had to get VERY creative mounting the reservoirs and such.

Can this be installed upside down to suck in air from a vent at the bottom of a case, and if so, are the only screws holding this to the case, the ones located on the back side of the psu? In particular, I was planning to install this upside down into a Fractal Node 304 in place of an ATX power supply. (This psu comes with an ATX backside adaptor)

Yes, it can. The PSU will, just like a atx PSU, vent inside the case.
