Can this be used as a broadband router?

Yes it can. It's basically a higher end router than the basic Netgears, etc. Better throughput, better configuration options and the ability to be a security appliance at the same time. If you just purchase the unit, without buying the software security add ons, you have a very good router.

i don't think the original question was answered though.  is support included with the TZ215 unit - or does support have to be purchased separately?  I believe support has to be purchased separately.

The TZ215 has one designated WAN and LAN port, and then 5 more ports that are programmable, so technically you can have 6 LAN ports.

If so wht are the prices for 8x5 and 24X7

You can find the support contracts as separate part numbers. The unit comes with 90 days support, and you can purchase the 8/5 or 24/7 contracts then and have them activated.

I see that 8x5 year contract is optional. Is any initial configuration support included in price shown?

I didn't use it myself, but I believe there is an initial setup support period that you can use.
