Comments: I got the same unit only model ddu1613 this is model ddu1615 they are completley identical the 1613 is discontinued at newegg. This drive has been the reader in nearly 1500 seperate DVDs from edge to edge of the disk ripping. Outlasted 2 dvd burners. Still Rips DVDs like a champ. If you want a no maintenance quick and durable DVD reader/ripper to complement a DVD burner in your next rig. This is you baby. I also used this same drive in 5 other computers that I custom built.

Pros: Reads scratched DVD game disks without problems (having 4 young children means lots of scratched disks). Drive is quite enough that I don’t notice it over background noise.

Pros: My DVD drive died, I was looking for something cheap and reliable, and this does the job. Also, it was shipped immediately and arrived on my front door faster than expected!

Cons: A little bit noisy, but not too bad.

Overall Review: If you're looking to replace a drive, or add one to a new computer even, this drive is definitely a great buy.

Cons: Didn't work with my computer, couldn't get it to communicate with the MB. It would open/close, showed up in bios, but couldn't read a disk, went through three units before just returning. probally a compatibility issue with Vista (no suprise here). I checked their website and it says vista supported, but couldn't get any technical help from them because they don't have any.

Overall Review: Newegg was great, returned it no problem. Don't let my review turn you off from the player, it is probally a good one just not compatable with my computer or with vista.

Pros: For the price I don't see how it can be any better.

Pros: I'm a big fan of Sony products and this dvd drive fits the normal mold. Nice quality build, free of defects, and runs perfectly. Real world speeds at ripping show that it's faster than another dvd drive i have by ~40 percent (also a 16x drive)--definitely worth it considering how inexpensive this one is.

Cons: None at all.

Overall Review: Stick with Sony for products like this and you won't be disappointed.

Pros: Works, cheap, black so matches my case. What do you need a dvd drive for now-a-days besides loading a game once every six months or playing a dvd. Pricier ones unless you have a real need for the features are just a rip in my opinion.
