will this device work for serial over Ethernet to boost the signal?

The StarTeck does a great job of transmitting Ethernet signal over long distance. In my application I have 3 StarTeck VDSL2 extending a network to 4 buildings over buried CAT5e cable. Two transmit 400 ft., one goes over 1000 ft., and the farthest building is 1300 ft. The StarTech converts Ethernet signal to a serial signal, transmits it across one pair of wire, and at the far end the receiver converts the serial signal back to Ethernet. One additional thing to consider. Running buried cable I have found, through experience, requires adding lightning arrestors at each end of the cable I hope this information helps you in your decision. Rich A
