Does this particular model allow audio passthru coming out of a Dell PC 7010 display port going to an HDMI port on a projector?

I am not using it to pass audio myself so I have no first-hand experience.  However, the tech specs for the adapter state 5.1 surround sound under "Audio Specifications", whatever that is worth.

Question 2

I have my dp2hdmi in the display port of  my HP laptop but it will not work with my Samsung 55inch wall-size LCD.  Any special problems with Samsung I should know about?

When I used this cable at home I connected to a Samsung LED, I believe also a 55 inch. What I recall doing after having the PC connected to the TV is to turn the TV off and then back on to get the pc to display on the TV. I used this setup several times, once to display a video clip and the second to stream a live webcast. It work well in both situations. I was using a Dell laptop, but this should not matter. You may need to toggle the laptop to use an external monitor. To do this you may have to press the function key along with another key to change display output. Good Luck!

We need to use our HP Elitebook 840s with our old projectors which only have HDMI and not Displayport like the HP Elitebooks..... we don't care about audio, this will just be for powerpoint presentations...... is this the correct product for us ?

What's the difference between The DP2HDMI model of this adaptor and the DP2HDMI2 model?

They appear to be very similar, one looks to have gold colored connectors  and pricing close if not same.  I was unable to bring up any specs on either adapter.
