Question 1

Specs mention working with Windows 7. Does it work with Windows 8, 8.1?

Accepted Answer

Yup. Tested it just this past week with a range of operating systems (including windows 8) and it works on all of them.

Question 2

Will this device allow 2 audio outputs from the same source... For example can I use a usb headset plugged into a USB port and have my speakers through this device and be able to hear them both at the same time?

Accepted Answer

No. When I plug in a USB headset, I have to choose between the headset and this device for output. That's probably a function of the operating system (it can send only to one port) rather than the device, so it's possible you could find third-party software that would permit it.

Question 3

The black version of this USB audio adapter is only mono, correct?

Accepted Answer

Unknown. I purchased the white one. It is stereo. Why would a color change have different circuitry? It is simple to use. The sound on my toshiba laptop died. This was a great alternative and cheap alternative, to the silence. You still need speakers though!

Question 4

What does the package include when purchasing the USB to Stereo Audio Adapter?

Accepted Answer

The package includes 1 x USB to Audio Adapter, 1 x 9in USB Extension Cable, 1 x Driver CD, and 1 x Instruction Manual.

Question 5

What are the compatible operating systems for the StarTech ICUSBAUDIO USB to Stereo Audio Adapter?

Accepted Answer

The adapter is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, Mac OS X 10.6 to 10.13, and Linux 3.5 to 4.11.x LTS Versions only.

Question 6

Will it accept a 1/4 inch audio cable to input into my mackie mixer that is sending output to my pa system? I am striving for a better quality audio output while playing karaokee tracks...

Accepted Answer

Output is via a 3.5 mm stereo jack. You would need an adapter for your cable. The output level is suitable for headphones, which may or may not be compatible with your particular PA system.

Question 7

Just curious as to whether or not this would function on the ps3?

Accepted Answer

I don't think it would.

Question 8

I have a headset that has two jacks, a pink one for mic and a green one for audio, will this work for it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. This device actually has one input and one output (3.5mm jacks). They're both black, but have labels for "headphones" and "microphone" on the side.

Question 9

What is the difference between this converter and the StarTech ICUSBAUDIOB 2 Channels USB Interface Black Audio Adapter?

Are they interchangeable?

Accepted Answer

One is white, the other is black. Same device.

Question 10

Just to be perfectly clear, this device will replace my Audigy 2 card and do everything that card does. Correct?
