Does this come with the drivers?

They normally do not require drivers if you are using Win98 or later.  If you do need drivers, you can proabaly find them online by searching for the chip number or other data on the board.

I would like to add a 1394 firewire dv slot to my 6 month old Acer Aspire ATC-605 PC running Windows 7(which I will upgrade to 10 soon) so I can connect my Sony Digital Handycam DCR-TRV17 by firewire, so I can upload all my old videos and pictures. So my question is is this Firewire Adaptor Card compatible with my P.C. system? . . . . And /or is there any advice on what I should do? . . . . I also would like to add some Ram/memory to the 12 GB on 2 modules I presently have . . . . any good advice is appreciated and thanks for listening! . . .  .Johnny Lobato

Hi Johnny,
This was the third unit of its type which I purchased, the first Startech product. It worked better than the previous two and the unit which was originally in our church computer (HP). Ultimately, the unit was fine, but the hardware in our Presonus digital mixer (big mistake)was not, so it was a wasted purchase. But I'll say this; in my opinion, it was the best manufactured PCI I had purchased. 
I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another.

Being a PCI card you need to look inside your PC and make sure you have an open PCI Slot on the Motherboard.  (note the large number of connections on the FireWire card)

I am not an expert on the different computers. However, in our computer that card went into a PCI slot, and did not fit into a PCI Express slot. So I would guess that you would need a PCI slot to put this card into, and it would not fit into a PCI express slot.
