Question 1

Which optional LP4 connector is needed?

Accepted Answer

To power the USB devices properly, you will need to connect a single Molex type (LP4) plug from your PSU ( power supply). Molex type LP4 is a 4-pin power connector found on virtually all power supplies.

Question 2

I have an ASUS P6T mother board with Windows 10 Pro as the operating system. So far three PCI EXPRESS cards have failed in this pc. Want to know if this card will work? Thanks

Accepted Answer

Does work on my Asus motherboard with Win 10.

Be SURE you are connecting these cards to a PCI 2.0 slot (and not the small 1.1 slot on your motherboard). I looked up your motherboard and you have 3: PCIe 2.0 slots, 1: PCIe 1.1, and a PCI slot.

Bandwidth** (you would not have 5Gbps on a diminutive 1.1 slot). ie: same slot as a video card would use if that helps you. Also note that ESATA cards use the same slots as well.

Question 3

My computer has a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H Quad-Core mainboard that I would like to upgrade to USB3 capable. The board has one (1) PCI Express X16 expansion slot and one PCI Express X 1 expansion slot.

Can the StarTech 2 Port PCIe (PEXUSB3S25) adaptor be used with the PCIEX1 slot?

Accepted Answer

I have used the card in both PCIE x1 and PCIE x16 slots without any problems.

Question 4

Does this card support booting from using either BIOS or BIOS BBS? (for instance pressing the f8 key at boot and selecting a device plugged into the card). My current card does not and I would like to be able to boot from a USB3.

Accepted Answer

I am currently not using the USB card and I plan to remove it. I have no knowledge about booting from the device.

Question 5

Accepted Answer

Question 6

Question 7

How many USB ports does this card adapter provide?

Accepted Answer

Question 8

Question 9

HI,
I need to know if this 2 port ( PCI Express) USB card compatible with my motherboard which has the longer black color PCI slots?

Accepted Answer

That should work fine, as the PCIe lanes are designed to be compatible with shorter cards. For example, a graphics card is normally a PCIe x16 lane and can operate cards that are PCIe x16,x8,x4,x2, and x1 widths.

Just be sure to insert the card straight and secured to the back of your case so you do not inadvertently short something out.
